Apex Predator
Under the still waters of Lake Iliamna lurks a predator forgotten by time …
Travel writer Geoff Connelly came to Alaska looking for a break and an easy story to send home to his editor. But when he pulls up to the Sitka Lodge, on the remote shores of beautiful Lake Iliamna, he finds a community wracked by questions he didn't anticipate: A new mine on the lake's far shores promises work, but at what cost? Why is wealthy sportsman and CEO Philip Kendrick hanging around the Lodge, and why does he seem so interested in the lake? And most disconcerting of all: Why are people-lodge guests and locals alike-suddenly disappearing?
To answer these questions, Geoff teams up with an alluring biologist named Renee Bach, the Sitka Lodge's shrewd but formidable owner Christa Yagulik, and a roguish documentary filmmaker named Mac MacDougall. But as people begin to die-at the hands of an ecoterrorist, and in the jaws of a creature thought to exist only in legend-Geoff begins to wonder who he can really trust. Soon it's not only the scoop of the century that's at stake for Geoff. It's his very survival.
