Ancient myth is messy. What we know and what we think we know are inextricably tangled. When Zeus and the Olympians overthrew their forefathers, the Titans, we're told they were in the right, but how can we ever know?
In some versions of the story, the Titans weren't banished to Tartarus, but instead exiled to a new world. That's the story of Aegea: a world "found" by the Titans long ago, but as with most discoveries and new worlds, someone and something already called it home. The world of The Silent Paths of Night is the world of the aftermath, where the truth of that arrival and the subsequent war with the native gods is nearly lost to time and dogma.
I've always conceived of the Gods of Night and Day series as a trilogy full of both lowercase and uppercase Mysteries. I could not have been more excited when Los Angeles Book Review called it a "fantasy thriller." The Silent Paths of Night digs into that history while including everything I love in high fantasy: monsters, intrigue, plenty of action, and just a dash of romance.

David R. Slayton grew up in Guthrie, Oklahoma, where finding fantasy novels was pretty challenging and finding fantasy novels with diverse characters was downright impossible. Now he lives in Denver, Colorado, and writes the books he always wanted to read. His epic fantasy, Dark Moon, Shallow Sea, won the Colorado Book Award.
