Netflix has secured the film rights to the short story Backwards, with Free Guy director Shawn Levy set to helm the project. Levy and Dan Cohen will produce through 21 Laps, alongside Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell for Safehouse.
Written by mother-son duo Julianna Baggott and Finneas Scott, Backwards follows a dying father who undergoes a radical treatment that reverses his aging. As he grows younger under the care of his estranged daughter, the two confront their fractured relationship.
Baggott will executive produce with Brendan Deneen and Josh Stanton of Blackstone Publishing. Tory Tunnell initially brought the project to Netflix.
