Marking the Milestone with New Ventures & Continued Growth
In 1987, in a small garage in Southern Oregon, Blackstone was born. Founded by Craig and Michelle Black, the early days consisted of a small handful of family members and employees working out of their home, building the business one cassette tape at a time. With a fresh perspective on the reading experience, Craig and Michelle, along with their trusted team, found new and innovative methods to not only produce and distribute audiobooks, but also pioneered creative ways to collaborate with publishers, booksellers, and the audiobook listening community.
A great deal has changed about the audiobook business over the past thirty years. From books on tape to CD’s, to a digital streaming experience, everything has sped up, including the growth and demand for audiobooks. While Blackstone has held true to its foundational roots, it has grown and worked hard to drive the innovation and ascendancy of the overall audiobook business.
We're extremely proud of the work we've done, and are thrilled by the continually increasing number of people who listen to our audiobooks. 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of Blackstone, and we honor this milestone by continuing with our traditions— which includes new ventures and continued growth.
Of special note is the launch of our publishing venture, Blackstone Publishing. We're thrilled to be working with bestselling authors like P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast, Adrian McKinty, and Cory Doctorow to publish print books, e-books, and audiobooks, furthering our commitment to bringing quality, entertaining stories to as many people as possible, in the most creative and innovative ways imaginable.
